Job Description

We are working in conjunction with Northampton General Hospital to recruit for Band 5 nurses for full time positions on Abington Ward.  Abington ward caters for orthopaedic trauma patients, especially those with Neck of Femur fractures (Broken hips). Their objective is to treat to always try and treat and perform surgery within 36 hours from arrival in the emergency department.

 

For those who need it, there is a 6 months preceptorship course and a designated mentor to support you.  With close links with the local university and a supportive Practice Development Team, your professional organisational development needs will be met.

 

Duties and responsibilities to include  –

 

  • Competent in team management skills, takes charge of the clinical area on a regular basis in the absence of the person who has continuing responsibility or his/her deputy.
  • Be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development of programmes of care ensuring that these are evaluated and amended as appropriate.
  • Plan, develop and implement approaches to promote health and wellbeing of patients and improve their health status
  • Maintain contemporary detailed nursing documentation.
  • Contribute to research and development programmes within the ward/department

Job Requirements

Who we are looking for –

 

  • Current level one NMC registration or working towards
  • Evidence of commitment to revalidation as per NMC requirements
  • Completion of a nursing degree programme (Newly Qualified)
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Trust values and beliefs
